Saturday night at dinner, Alan proposes that we trade in his man-truck for a more economical choice. I guess with the looming threat of $4/galloon for gas, plus possibly starting a family in a year or two, helped him realize that a 4WD pick-up truck that gets 13 MPG and has power-nothing (other than steering and a stereo) is better for hauling kayaks and rocks than people. We decided to be even more economical by looking for a (barely) used car, so about 12 hours later I have pulled up on carmax.com a car that seems to be tailor-made for us- 2007 Honda Accord EX, dark grey, less than 13K miles, 26/34 est. MPG, cloth seats (I hate leather- hot in the summer and cold in the winter), 5-speed manual transmission (Alan's preference), and a sunroof (our preference!). We test-drove it last night and it was great! Of course, then when we tried to seal the deal, there were some problems with the title on Alan's truck, so I was held hostage as "collateral" for about an hour at Carmax while Alan searched storage and home for his title, but all worked out in the end and we have a new (used) car!! Because I have better credit, both cars are now in my name- so, yes, Alan is my "b*tch."
Alan is a little depressed- the '98 Ranger took him through so much in the last few years, between driving trips to New England and camp, hauling various man-things, etc., but hopefully he'll adjust to my old Jeep Grand Cherokee (he gets the man-car, I get the sedan). It's amazing how quickly you get used to comfy seats, cruise control, automatic transmission, and power EVERYTHING...
In other news, we're on our second to last day of exams and school cannot be over soon enough! It seems like there is way too much to do before the end of the week, though!! I'm not sure how many more days left, but I know for a fact that our cruise is less than 2 months away and I can't wait!
